Winter Weather Preparedness

As we slowly transition into winter and temperatures begin to drop we at EMMC thought we should share some winter weather safety tips.
Start Preparing Now!
Be ready for weather-related emergencies like power outages.
Make sure you have non-perishable food that doesn’t require heating.
Charge all necessary electronics.
Purchase or make an emergency kit that includes: A flashlight, weather radio, extra batteries, and a first-aid kit.
Tips for Your Car
Check your tire tread to make sure you can maintain traction if you must drive through snow.
Keep your gas tank full to avoid ice forming inside it
Prepare a winter emergency kit to keep in your car. The kit should have: A portable charger, blankets, food and water, booster cables, flares, tire pump, flashlight, battery-powered radio, and extra batteries, and a first-aid kit.
If You’re planning to Travel or be Outdoors
Dress appropriately! Wear multiple layers and cover up as much as possible.
Stay dry! Wet clothes lose all their insulating value.
If possible, avoid driving during or just after a snowstorm. If you must, let someone know the route you’re taking and when you should arrive at your destination.
